Compare and Contrast
Between the two photos, I can see a relation. An orange is peeled, a basket of oranges is on the left, and a clay vase is on the right. As you look closely though, there was no bag of oranges in my photo because I could not find one that looked like the one from my artist. When I didn't have anything there, it looked empty. I put a glass bottle in the background and placed the peeled orange in the front. This helped create a full and complete photo.
Artist Statement
In my photo, I really like how the outcome turned out. One thing that I struggled with while taking this photo is the amount of lighting. I'm not sure how I could have fixed in into photoshop, but I darkened the photo to try and get the same affect. What I really had fun with in this picture is playing with the fruit. I like recreating the same affect the Margareth saw in front of her.
Compare and Contrast
You can see the relation in the photos. I was not sure how my artist got the darkened affect on her picture, but I liked mine in the lighter point of view. One thing that I could not find were the squash. We do not have any at our house and it is not in season for pumpkins. I found red onions so I tried to create the same affect with two different colors.
Artist Statement
One thing that I don't like about this photo is it's not focused. The more I look at the two photos, the more I see it. One thing that I like about the photo is the color of the onions. The dark red and green really stand out to me and I think that is what other people will look at too. One thing that I struggled with in this photo is the background. The paint reflects the light differently and sometimes it got too bright.
Compare and Contrast
This was on of my favorite photos from my artist so I really wanted to recreate this photo. I started finding old book that we had that looked worn out. The amount of old books she had is one thing that is different. The background also is different. I believe that the bottles are pretty closely related. I didn't have the same type of candles at mine so I had to compromise.
Artist Statement
One thing that I struggled with in this photo was the lighting of the candle. It was reflecting off the walls, on the bottles. etc. That is one thing that I would ask her if I ever met her. One thing that I like about this photo is the vintage vibe. I love vintage, and I think that I did a pretty good job by bringing the past back.
Personal Background
Margareth Perfoncio was born in São Paulo, Brazil. She loves photos that tell a story. She loves her hometown because of the beautiful buildings and people. Her mother and father met in high school and got married soon after. They had three children and they lived very happy lives. She is now 52 years old and is still obsessed with photography.
Style
Margareth Perfoncio loves taking still life photography. She makes vintage looks with objects and creates a life that you want to be in. She also creates portraits that are rather strange and staged but are really beautiful. I want to be in every single lifestyle she creates with her camera and that is her goal. When you see her photos, you can tell when they are hers because of the background and the lighting she uses.
Philosophy
When she creates her photos, she tries to make them look specifically like old dutch paintings. That is what she uses to create an amazing photo. She wants to create a story in every photo and every photo is different in her case. She also tries to make them attractive and draw peoples attention to her life like painting. Her main goal was to create photos that could move people by emotion with just a simple photo.
Influences
Her biggest influences in her life were members in her family. They really supported her because they believed she had a really good eye. When she became more interested in photography, she got even more precise with her photos. She did a ton of research and her favorite photographers are Sebastião Salgado, Cláudio Edinger, Dorothea Lange, Ansel Adams, Lindsay Adler and many others. Once she had many ideas, thats when still life photography came into play.
